Tomatillo and Herb Biscuits

Tomatillo and Herb Biscuits

These flavorful biscuits make a great addition to breakfast, brunch or any meal.  Serve with a fried egg and side of mimosas to share with friends.


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup butter or shortening
  • ¾ cup Tres Latin Foods Salsa of choice
  • 1 TBSP sugar
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt


  1. Preheat oven to 450°F
  2. In large bowl, mix the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt)
  3. Cut in the shortening or butter, using clean hands or a pastry blender until butter is fully incorporated and mixture is crumbly
  4. Stir in salsa until the entire mixture is incorporated and doughy
  5. Lightly flour a pastry board or countertop and knead the dough for about a minute
  6. Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough until 1/2 inch thick
  7. Use a knife or pastry cutter to cut the dough into 3 inch squares and place biscuits on an ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart
  8. Bake 12-14 minutes or until golden brown
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for about 5 minutes and serve warm
  10. Makes 4 large biscuits
