What is Corn Masa?

2/21/17 | News

We use 100% organic, non-GMO corn masa in all of our Tres Latin Foods dishes, but what exactly is this star ingredient?

Corn masa is dough made from masa harina, or corn flour. It’s used in all kinds of Latin American dishes like pupusas, tamales, and even in tortillas!
Corn masa is not the same as cornmeal, it’s made from hominy instead of regular corn, which means it has a much doughier consistency when wet, and can be used to mold cakes and stuff-able balls, perfect for pupusas! It’s completely and naturally gluten free. Since corn is not a gluten-containing grain, all of our products are gluten free, without even trying! That’s why Tres Latin Foods make such a delicious and convenient option for people and families looking to avoid gluten.
